WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (0-2) opened the 2020 season at West Chester (7-3) on Sunday.
GAME ONE – L, 3-0
The Golden Rams got on the board in the opening inning with back-to-back doubles. West Chester added two in the fifth with consecutive RBI doubles. Jefferson struggled offensively through the first six innings, recording just two hits and getting only two runners into scoring position. The Rams loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh on an error, a hit by pitch and a walk but a strikeout ended the contest.
GAME TWO – L, 8-0 (6 inn.)
WCU began the scoring in the third with an RBI single. The Rams' best offensive opportunity came in the fourth with Jefferson loading the bases but coming up empty. The Golden Rams tacked on two runs in both the fourth and fifth frames with a two-run single and a homer with one on. West Chester recorded a three-run blast in the sixth to end the game due to the eight-run rule.
The Rams host Millersville for the home opener on Monday, March 9 at 2 p.m.
