PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (0-4) played its home opener on Monday, taking on Millersville (5-4).
GAME ONE – L, 5-0
The Marauders got on the board in the first with a steal of home. They added two in the fourth on a two-run double. In the fifth, Millersville brought home a run with a single and added one in the sixth on a homer. The Rams struggled offensively, recording just three hits.
GAME TWO – L, 2-0
The visitors struck in the opening inning, taking advantage of an error and scoring an unearned run on a base hit. It was a pitcher's duel for the rest of the game as the teams combined for just five hits. Jefferson's best opportunity to score came in the second with two runners on but a line out ended the frame. Millersville added an insurance run in the seventh with a double.
- Stas recorded her 150th career hit in the sixth inning of game two. She is the sixth Ram to reach the milestone and the first since Stephanie Martin in 2015.
The Rams are scheduled to compete in The Spring Games in Florida from March 13-17.
