Andy Waskie joined the Thomas Jefferson University softball coaching staff in August 2024 and works in several areas of the Rams’ program, with a primary focus on pitching, hitting, and defensive development.
As the Rams’ Pitching Game Coordinator, Waskie works closely with the pitching staff on game preparation, pitch calling and sequencing, pitcher development, opponent scouting, and in-game strategy. He also serves as a hitting coach, working with Jefferson’s hitters on approach, mechanics, adjustments, and offensive game planning.
In addition to his work with the pitching staff and offense, Waskie assists with the development of the Rams’ infielders and catchers and plays an active role in practice planning and organization, helping structure daily practices around individual skill development, team defense, offensive execution, and game preparation.
Waskie brought extensive travel and high school coaching experience to Jefferson. He spent more than 13 years with the Langhorne Lightning Softball Organization, serving as both Travel Director and a head coach while coaching at every level from 6U through 18U Gold. His teams consistently competed against high-level regional and national competition throughout the country, including NSA and USSSA national championship victories.
Waskie currently serves as a head coach with the Pennsbury Gems, leading an 18U college showcase team composed of student-athletes aspiring to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level. In that role, he focuses on advanced player development, college preparation, recruiting guidance, and preparing athletes to compete successfully at the next level.
Waskie has built his coaching philosophy around player development, preparation, accountability, and competitiveness, while creating an environment in which athletes are consistently challenged to improve. His experience across the collegiate, high school, and travel levels provides him with a broad perspective on preparing student-athletes for both immediate success and the next stage of their softball careers.
