BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team (10-1) defeated the Bloomsburg Huskies (5-6) on Saturday afternoon on the road by a final of 71-58. The win came as the 10th of the year for the Rams.
Alynna Williams led the Rams with 20 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Jessica Kaminski scored 16 points behind 5-of-12 shooting and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line. The redshirt junior also had eight rebounds.
After trailing by one point at the end of the first quarter, the Rams held the Huskies to seven points in the second quarter to take a 34-28 lead into halftime.
Following a Bloomsburg basket to start the second quarter, Jefferson went on a 10-0 run to take a 30-25 advantage.
The Rams pushed the advantage up to 14 points midway through the third quarter at 44-30 after a Kaminski layup. Caitlyn Cunningham converted a three-point play to end the quarter as the lead went up to 15 at 56-41. Cunningham finished with six points on the day.
Bloomsburg was never able to get the Jefferson edge into single digits in the final quarter as the Rams lead by as many as 19 with 2:11 to go after Williams recorded a three-point play, 71-52.
The Huskies scored the final six points of the day as Jefferson won by a 71-58 final.
Jefferson returns home for a midweek doubleheader with the men on Tuesday, Dec. 19 against Wilmington. In a pair of afternoon matinees, the women play at 1 p.m. followed by the men at 3 p.m.
