PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team (12-1, 5-0 CACC) grabbed a 39-point win over the Goldey-Beacom Lightning (4-9, 2-2 CACC) by a final of 94-55 from the Gallagher Center on Saturday afternoon.
The victory helped Jefferson finish the month of December with a perfect 6-0 record as the squad moved to 12-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
The offensive outpouring came as the Rams' first time scoring at least 94 points since Feb. 22, 2014 against Concordia (W, 94-67).
Day ended up with a game-high seven assists while Kaminski and Kum each grabbed a team-high six boards.
Jefferson held a 21-13 edge after the first quarter and a big second quarter helped the Rams take a 48-24 lead at halftime.
Day scored 13 of her 19 on the day in the first half, connecting on 3-of-4 from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes.
Jefferson could not miss in the second half, shooting 52.9-percent in the third quarter and 75.0-percent in the fourth to finish 35-of-70 on the afternoon. It came as the Rams' first game of the season shooting 50.0-percent from the floor.
The Rams outscored the Lightning 46-31 in the second half and led by as many as 41 with just under six minutes to play in the final quarter.
Jefferson returns to action on the road at USciences on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m.
