Women’s Basketball Defeats Dominican in CACC Quarterfinals, 74-55

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 2 CACC South-seeded Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team (25-4) defeated the No. 3 CACC North-seeded Dominican Chargers (11-18) in a CACC Quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday evening from the Gallagher Center by a final of 74-55.

With the win, the Rams advance to the CACC Semifinals on Saturday, March 3 where they will face Bloomfield at 2 p.m. Jefferson serves as the host for both the men's and women's conference semifinals and finals.

Junior transfer Beverly Kum had 20 points and 15 rebounds in the victory.

Redshirt sophomore Alynna Williams scored 13 points while senior Rachel Day had 12 with seven rebounds.

Redshirt freshman Caitlyn Cunningham scored 11 points, all in the first half, with five rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes off the bench.

The game got off to a slow start before Dominican took an early lead. Jefferson went on an 8-0 run near the end of the first quarter before taking a six-point lead heading into the second.

The Chargers outscored the Rams 17-14 in the second which left Jefferson with a 32-29 advantage at halftime.

Jefferson pulled away in the third, going up by as many as 20.

The Rams outscored the Chargers, 20-10, in the final quarter to take down the No. 3 CACC North seed.

Jefferson shot 42.6% from the floor (29-of-68), 31.3% from three-point range (5-of-16) and 78.6% from the line (11-of-14).

The Rams had assists on 19 of their 29 field goals, led by redshirt juniors Erin Maher and Jessica Kaminski with five each.

Jefferson dominated the glass, outrebounding Dominican 48-27. The Rams had 19 offensive boards, which turned in 24 second-chance points.

Jefferson also capitalized on Dominican's 12 turnovers, turning them into 17 points.
