Women’s Basketball Set for Wednesday Home Opener Against NYIT

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team is set for its home opener Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. from the Gallagher Center against the NYIT Bears in a nonconference tilt.

Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors/children/outside students with ID. Children under the age of six are free. Jefferson students, staff and faculty with school ID are also free.

A free, live video stream will be available for the midweek affair with play-by-play and color analysis.

The women went 2-0 on the opening weekend with a season-opening road win over Molloy, 61-56, before downing Queens on Sunday, 90-62. Junior Alynna Williams recorded career highs of 29 points and six made three-pointers in the Sunday win over Queens.

Senior Jessica Kaminski was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday as she totaled 20 rebounds, three steals and two blocks on the weekend. She added 21 points vs. Molloy and 15 vs. Queens as she went 16-of-16 from the free-throw line. Williams earned a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Kaminski currently sits at 999 career points. With her first basket or free throw on Wednesday, the senior will be the 33rd women's basketball player at the school to reach 1000 career points.

Head Coach Tom Shirley earned his 600th win at the school in Saturday's season opener while the Sunday victory came as his 750th career win in his 38-year head coaching career.
