Women's Basketball Handles Shippensburg on the Road, 78-64

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team (5-0) defeated the Shippensburg Raiders (1-2) by a final of 78-64 from Heiges Field House in Shippensburg, Pa.

GAMEPLAY
Jefferson led 47-19 at halftime after holding Shippensburg to 11 points in the first and eight points in the second. Senior Jessica Kaminski scored 13 of her 21 in the opening 20 minutes while the bench delivered 15 points in the first half from freshman Bridget Arcidiacono (6), freshman Maddie Haney (6) and sophomore Sabria Lytes (3).

The Rams stretched their lead to as many as 30 with 19 seconds remaining in the third quarter, 65-35. The Raiders outscored Jefferson, 26-13, in the fourth quarter to make the game seemed closer than it appeared.

STARTERS
-Senior Jessica Kaminski led the squad with 21 points behind 6-of-9 shooting and 9-of-11 from the line. She also notched eight rebounds, seven assists and one steal.
-Senior Beverly Kum finished with 17 points on the night with nine rebounds on 7-of-10 from the floor.
-Sophomore Caitlyn Cunningham recorded 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steal and two blocks.

OFF THE BENCH
-Freshman Maddie Haney scored eight points off the bench with two rebounds and an assist.
-Freshman Bridget Arcidiacono recorded six points as a reserve on 2-of-4 from the floor with two rebounds, one steal and one block.
-Sophomore Sabria Lytes finished with three points, three rebounds and one block.

AS A TEAM
The Rams shot 43.3% (26-of-60) from the floor, 30.4% (7-of-23) from deep and 82.6% (19-of-23) from the line.
-Jefferson forced 20 Shippensburg turnovers and scored 24 points off those miscues.
-The bench outscored the Raiders' reserves, 17-5.
-Jefferson largest lead was 30 points late in the third quarter.
