This is the seventh meeting between Jefferson and Stonehill and the first since the 2001-02 season. The Skyhawks lead the series, 4-2. It's the third time that the two schools will square off in the NCAA Tournament. Stonehill came out on top, 65-50 in the first round in 1997 and the Rams had a 63-59 win in the first round in 1998.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
The Rams earned an automatic bid by winning their third CACC Championship. Jefferson defeated USciences, 74-73 in overtime in the final.
The Skyhawks received an at-large bid out of the Northeast-10 Conference. Stonehill fell in the NE-10 quarterfinals versus New Haven, 58-52 in overtime.
JEFFERSON IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
This is Jefferson's 11th trip to the NCAA Tournament and the Rams have a 3-10 record. It is Jefferson's second straight bid and fourth in the last five years. The women's last NCAA victory was in 1998, oddly enough against Friday's opponent, Stonehill. The Rams are seeded third in the East for the second time (2015-16) and it is their highest placement in program history. Jefferson's best finish is an appearance in the national semifinals in 1986.
