PHILADELPHIA – Senior Jessica Kaminski of the Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team has added another honor to her historic season and career as she was chosen the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Basketball Performer of the Year.

The Academic All-Area Team is voted on by the sports information personnel in the greater Philadelphia area, known collectively as Philly-SIDA. The team recognizes student-athletes who athletically excel while contributing to their surrounding community and exceeding a 3.2 GPA.

It is Kaminski's first time on the Academic All-Area Team. She will move on to the Overall Performer of the Year ballot, which selects the top men's and women's student-athlete from all of the individual sport Performers of the Year. The Overall Performer of the Year will be announced in June.

Kaminski was named the CACC Player and Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-CACC first team. She also garnered D2CCA All-East Region first team, CACC Tournament MVP and All-Tournament Team honors. The senior was first on the Rams in rebounding (8.2 rpg), field goal percentage (53.1%) and assist/turnover ratio (1.8) and was second in scoring (16.7 ppg) and assists (3.8 apg) and fourth in steals (1.5 spg). Kaminski ranked second in the CACC in rebounding and field goal percentage, fourth in scoring, fifth in assist/turnover ratio and sixth in assists.

A guard, Kaminski led Jefferson to its third CACC Championship and second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Rams posted a school record 29 wins (29-3) and were ranked as high as second in the nation at one point, the highest ranking in program history. Kaminski had season-highs of 27 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. She recorded her 1,000th career point versus NYIT on November 14 and ended her career ranked in the program's top-10 in points, rebounds, assists and steals

The senior scored in double figures in 29 of 32 games with seven double-doubles. Kaminski was a three-time CACC Player of the Week, three-time Defensive Player of the Week and five-time Honor Roll selection and was named the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month for January.

Kaminski earned CACC All-Academic Team honors and is a three-time Dean's List student. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in business in May 2018 and is working on her MBA. Kaminski has a 3.74 GPA.
