BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (4-5) suffered a 79-68 loss at Bloomsburg (4-3) in non-conference action on Saturday.
The Rams had an early 5-3 lead when the Huskies scored nine of 11 to go in front 12-7. Bloomsburg carried a 17-13 advantage into the second. Jefferson was within one (19-18) at the 9:02 mark before the Huskies had a 9-4 run for a six-point cushion (28-22). They increased the margin to seven (35-28) by halftime.
In the third, the Rams trailed 41-37. Bloomsburg upped the gap to 10 (49-39) with an 8-2 stretch. However, Jefferson followed with a 9-2 rally to get back within three (51-48) with 2:22 left in the frame. The Huskies closed the period with six straight points for a 57-48 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Rams were within six (59-53) with 7:46 remaining. Bloomsburg pulled away with a 13-2 stretch for a 17-point advantage (72-55), its largest of the contest.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Senior Alynna Williams posted a game-high 24 points.
- Freshman Morgan Robinson tallied 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. She also grabbed six rebounds.
- Junior Sabria Lytes scored eight points and freshman Haley Meinel chipped in with six points and five boards.
AS A TEAM
- The Rams shot 44.1% (30-for-68) from the field, 26.7% (4-for-15) from three and 57.1% (4-for-7) from the charity stripe.
