Lacrosse Wins 2nd Straight in 20-11 Romp over Dominican

Philadelphia, PA- An 11 goal second half advanced the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (5-4, 5-1 CACC) to a 20-11 crushing of the Dominican College Chargers (6-3, 5-2 CACC) on Saturday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.

PhilaU junior midfielder Kalin Hodel led all scorers with six goals and an assist on the day.

The Chargers took an early 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes, but PhilaU notched three straight goals (two from Hodel) to pull ahead 3-2 at 13:32.  DC's Carla Gimm responded with a goal to tie it 3-3, but PhilaU rookie midfielder Emily Ray notched her first goal of the day at 9:22 to give the Rams a 4-3 lead they would not relinquish from that point on.

PhilaU led 9-4 at the half.

In the second period, Ray scored five more and three other PhilaU players scored two goals apiece (Caribeth Shappell, Taylor Peltzer and Carli DiCioccio).

PhilaU freshman goalie Cory Lombardo finished all 60 minutes with 11 saves, while DC's Amanda Caprio tallied nine stops for the Chargers.

Next up for the Rams will be a non-conference battle with East Stroudsburg University on Monday (4/11) at 4:30 p.m.  The game will be webcast live on
