Women’s lacrosse locks up southern division with 21-3 win at Nyack

NYACK, N.Y. – Sixteen different Philadelphia University women's lacrosse players scored a goal as the Rams won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) southern division with a 21-3 win at Nyack on Mosley Field Saturday afternoon.

The Rams improve to 10-4 overall and remain perfect in CACC play with an 8-0 mark. Nyack is now 0-9 overall, 0-8 in the CACC.

Freshman attack Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) and junior midfielder Libby Nichols (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) both recorded five points in the victory. Mower had three goals and two assists, while Nichols posted two goals, three assists, and five draw controls.

Sophomore attack Allison Brian (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) netted three goals and dished out one assist.

Sophomore attack Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata), senior defender Ellen Wright (Salem, Va./Salem), sophomore midfielder Lauren Hartman (Sewell, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy), freshman midfielder Katelynn Parent (Millville, N.J./Millville), junior defender Allison Zappulla (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon), freshman attack Erika Ortega (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), junior attack Rebecca Baker (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), and junior midfielder Melissa Styer (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) all recorded a goal in the first half.

Sophomore midfielder Allison Cassidy (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside), senior defender Rebecca Cox (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), junior defender Christine Page (Levittown, N.Y./Macauthur), freshman attack Caroline Noebels (Hightstown, N.J./Hightstown), and sophomore midfielder Fiona Fenney (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) scored in the second half.

Page led the team with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Lauren Lebo recorded a hat trick for the Warriors.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kristen Moran (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) posted eight stops in the victory. Nyack's Melissa Richard had four saves in a losing effort.

Philadelphia returns home to take on Kutztown in a non-conference match on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:30 p.m.
