Women's lacrosse falls to No. 16 Mercy

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-1 non-conference loss to 16th-ranked Mercy College Monday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Alyssa Matthews (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) tallied Philadelphia's (4-6) goal, her 12th of the season at the 16:20 mark of the second half. Matthews received a pass from Sarah von Lange (Marriottsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy), ran to her right, and beat Mercy goalie Shiane Judson to the near post. The goal stopped a run of 15 straight Maverick goals.

Hunter Isnardi led Mercy (12-1) with five goals—all in the first half—seven draw controls, and three ground balls. Emily Jehle had three goals and one assist during the Maverick's five-goal second half. Alexa Haines recorded three goals, two in the second half, and one assist.

Ram goalie Victoria Raimondi (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had two saves and a team-high three ground balls. Mercy starter stopped all five shots she faced in the opening 38:42. Judson finished the match out and made two stops.

Philadelphia closes out the 2017 season with five straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches, starting on Wednesday, April 12 against visiting Wilmington (Del) University at 4:30 p.m.
