PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team (0-2) fell to Molloy (5-2), 13-2 in the Rams' home opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions controlled the first half, scoring the first nine goals and outshooting Jefferson, 17-11. The Rams got on the board with 42 seconds remaining before halftime when sophomore Camryn Sullivan hit the back of the net with an assist from sophomore Lauren Najarian.
Molloy continued to increase its lead to start the second half, tallying the first three goals. Junior Sarah von Lange beat the goalkeeper at 14:54 and she was assisted by junior Erin Eckert for Jefferson's last marker. The Lions added one final goal before the officials ended the contest with 8:14 remaining due to field conditions.
Sullivan led the Rams with four shots, all of them on target. Sophomore Erin Campbell picked up four ground balls and had five draw controls while von Lange controlled four. Campbell also caused two turnovers. Freshman Kelsey Kaplowitz stopped three shots in the first half while fellow rookie Melanie Goldstein turned away four in the second.
Jefferson Women's Lacrosse is scheduled to host Seton Hill on Tuesday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m.
