Women's Lacrosse Dealt First CACC Defeat by Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team (8-5, 7-1 CACC) suffered its first conference loss of the season with a 19-8 setback at Georgian Court (12-4, 8-0 CACC) on Tuesday.

GAMEPLAY
The Lions got off to a hot start, netting the first six goals over the opening 10 minutes. Junior Sarah von Lange scored a free-position goal at the 18:29 mark to put the Rams on the board. The score was 7-2 after sophomore Lexi Patania's tally at 17:23. GCU then went on a 4-1 run to increase the margin to eight (11-3) with 6:49 left. Von Lange and sophomore Erin Campbell scored for Jefferson but the Lions found the net with 22 seconds to go and led 12-5 at the intermission. Georgian Court had another strong opening in the second stanza, recording four straight markers. The Rams tallied three goals in the period but could not get the deficit under 10.

CACC PLAYOFF PICTURE
With today's result, the Lions and Rams are locked into the first and second seeds respectively for the CACC Tournament and will receive a bye to the semifinals. Wilmington (Del.) has secured the third seed and will host a first round game. Dominican (N.Y.) has qualified for the conference tournament while the last two spots remain up for grabs.
