PHILADELPHIA – Junior Sarah von Lange of the Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team on Tuesday.
The Academic All-Area Team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
A midfielder, von Lange was chosen to the All-CACC first team, CACC All-Tournament Team and CACC All-Academic Team. She was a one-time CACC Player of the Week and three-time CACC Honor Roll selection. Von Lange helped lead the Rams to the CACC Championship Game and the team finished 10-6, 8-1 in conference play.
The junior led Jefferson in goals (56), points (71) and draw controls (75) and ranked second in ground balls (48) and caused turnovers (21) and third in assists (15). In the CACC, von Lange was seventh in goals, eighth in ground balls, ninth in points, tied for ninth in draw controls, tied for 11th in assists and tied for 12th in caused turnovers.
Von Lange had nine games with at least five points, including a season-high 11 on eight goals and three assists at Holy Family. She posted season highs of six ground balls (twice), seven draw controls (three times) and three caused turnovers. A three-time Dean's List student, von Lange has a 3.50 GPA in health sciences with a minor in exercise science.
