Women's Lacrosse Named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, Five Players Chosen to Academic Honor Roll

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team was one of 312 programs across the NCAA and NAIA to be named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad. It is the first time the Rams have earned the honor since 2015.

In addition, seniors Laura Dunne (health sciences) and Katie Gallivan (health sciences) and juniors Anabelle DiStefano (communications), Erin Eckert (engineering) and Sarah von Lange (health sciences) were selected to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

To qualify as an Academic Honor Squad, a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Dunne played in 11 games on the season and scored six goals with five assists for 11 points. She also tallied six ground balls. The senior received CACC All-Academic honors. Gallivan played in ten games over the season. She tallied 11 ground balls and received CACC All-Academic honors.

A top defensive midfielder, DiStefano played in all 16 games and accumulated 22 ground balls, one draw control and 16 caused turnovers. She received CACC All-Academic honors and tied for third on the team in caused turnovers.

Eckert played in 16 games and totaled 25 goals, 22 assists, 47 points, 35 ground balls, 36 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers. She was named the CACC Defensive Player of Week one time and was a one-time CACC Honor Roll selection. A member of the CACC All-Tournament Team, the junior also received CACC All-Academic honors. Eckert tied for first on the team in assists and ranked second in points, third in goals, ground balls and draw controls and tied for third in caused turnovers. She tied for fifth in the CACC in assists.

Von Lange played in all 16 games and totaled 71 points on 56 goals and 15 assists with 75 draw controls, 48 groundballs, and 21 caused turnovers. She was awarded Academic All-Area honors by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The junior was chosen to the All-CACC first team, named the CACC Player of the Week one time and to the weekly honor roll three times. A member of the CACC All-Tournament Team, she also received CACC All-Academic honors.

Von Lange was named team MVP at Jefferson's Sports Recognition Night. The junior led the team in goals, points and draw controls and was second in ground balls and caused turnovers and third in assists. She ranked seventh in the CACC in goals, eighth in ground balls, ninth in points and tied for ninth in draw controls.
