GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (0-1) suffered a 13-10 loss to 21st-ranked Seton Hill (2-0) in its season opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Rams jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from junior Erin Campbell (28:58), senior Erin Eckert (26:47) and sophomore Kanha Stockford (25:43). The Griffins capitalized on a Jefferson card to get on the board at the 23:23 mark. Senior Sarah von Lange hit the back of the net (18:46) to give the Rams a 4-1 cushion. Seton Hill scored two in a row to close the gap to one before going shorthanded. Jefferson took advantage with a tally by junior Lexi Patania to make it 5-3 (11:01). Each team produced two goals in the last 10 minutes and the Rams were ahead 7-5 at the break.
The Griffins came out strong in the second half, recording the first three goals to take their first lead of the day (8-7) with 22:16 on the clock. Patania tied the score at 20:37. However, Seton Hill responded with another three in a row to go in front 11-8 with 10:21 to play. Jefferson was only able to get within two (11-9, 12-10) down the stretch.
