Women’s rowing takes part in day one of Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR TWP., N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's rowing team competed in the opening day of action at the Knecht Cup on a cold, snowy Saturday on Mercer Lake.

The Rams' second varsity four team advanced to Sunday's petite final to highlight Philadelphia's Saturday.

The boat started the day with the fourth-place time of 8 minutes, 40.03 seconds. Even though the Rams—one of two non-Division I boats in the field—finished fourth, the time was one of the four fastest among the teams that didn't come in first or second and allowed the Rams to advance.

In its semifinal heat, Philadelphia recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 10:12.80 and was sent to the petite final.  The Rams will be in lane five for petite final that is set to go off at 11:57 a.m.

The varsity eight boat—one of three non-DIs—posted a time of 8:07.17 to take fifth in heat two.

In the Club Four DI/II event, Philadelphia was seventh in its heat with a time of 8:51.93.

In addition to the second varsity four, the Rams will compete in the Club Eight DI/II race at 9:44 on Sunday.
