Possession-Focused Rams Win 8th Straight, over Georgian Court

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's soccer team (11-1-1, 10-0 CACC) got an early goal (and eventual game winner) just seven minutes into play, en route to a 2-0 shutout of Georgian Court University (6-5, 5-4 CACC) on Tuesday evening.  The win was the eighth-straight for PhilaU.

PhilaU sophomore defender Nicole Van Bourgondien scored the first goal, at 7:56 on an assist from senior forward Gabrielle Haden.  The second score came at 71:27 on a shot from junior midfielder Melissa Copeland, assisted by junior forward Trisha Sileo.

In goal, PhilaU junior Kelli Kowalewski got the start and made three saves while PhilaU senior goalie Rebecca Della Peruta came in for the final 12 minutes.  GCU keeper Shealyn Sullivan made 11 saves for the Lions.

PhilaU has now out-scored opponents 9-1 in the month of October.  The Rams return to action on Thursday (11/13) vs. Molloy College at 4 p.m., held on Ravenhill Field.
