PHILADELPHIA – The two-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champion Philadelphia University women's soccer team has announced its 17-match 2016 schedule Wednesday.
The schedule—which includes matches against two NCAA Tournament teams—consists of nine road matches and eight matches on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia open the 2016 season with a pair of road matches at Holy Family on Sept. 1 and Queens on Sept. 7. The season opener against the Tigers is also the Rams' conference opener.
The Rams begin their home slate on Sept. 10 when Caldwell come to campus for a rematch of the 2015 CACC Tournament final, which the Rams took 1-0 on a 42nd minute penalty kick. The match with Caldwell is the first of three straight CACC conference matches as Philadelphia follow it up with showdowns at Georgian Court on Sept. 14 and back home against Nyack on Sept. 17.
After a non-conference match at Molloy on Sept. 20, Philadelphia has a Homecoming Day clash lined up with Felician on Sept. 24. The Rams head north to square off with Bridgeport, a NCAA Tournament national semifinalist, on Sept. 28.
October begins with back-to-back home matches with Dominican on the 1st and LIU Post, who reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, four days later.
Following the LIU Post match, Philadelphia play six straight matches against CACC competition. During the string the Rams have home matches against Post (Oct. 15); Wilmington (Oct. 18); and Chestnut Hill (Oct. 25), and trips to Concordia (Oct. 8); Goldey-Beacom (Oct. 12); and Bloomfield (Oct. 22). The match against Post will be the Rams' Senior Day and the showdown with Chestnut Hill is the Rams' final home match of the season.
Philadelphia ends the 2016 regular season with a trip to Mercy on October 27
