PHILADELPHIA – Three different players found the back of the net for the Philadelphia University women's soccer team in a 3-0 shutout Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Felician Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia (3-3-1, 2-2-1 CACC), a winner in back-to-back games for the first time this season—netted a pair of goals inside the opening ten minutes to take a quick 2-0 advantage.
Megan Sullivan (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) needed just 3:48 to get the Rams on the board as she got on the end of a Taylor Mysza (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) pass into the box and beat the Golden Falcons' Bjonda Ademi into the lower left corner. Sullivan has scored in three straight matches against Felician (1-6-0, 0-4-0 CACC), dating back to Oct. 10, 2015.
Mysza got into the scoring column for the first time since 2013 at the 9:11 mark to increase the lead to two. She blocked a Carly Brantner pass out of the Felician back line and quickly scooped up the ricochet, leaving her one-on-one against Ademi. Mysza deposited the ball into the upper left corner of the net for the goal.
The scored remained 2-0 until 79:58 when Emily Discavage (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) netted her first career goal after Morgan Foster (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) delivered a pass that allowed her to go one-on-one against a sprawling Ademi, who did make six saves.
Philadelphia's defense turned in a solid performance, holding Felician to just five shot attempts. Keeper Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) stopped one shot to earn her second shutout of the season.
The Rams return to the road to take on the 10th-ranked University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.
