Offensive outburst carries women's soccer past Bloomfield, 5-0

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team scored a season-high five goals in the opening half hour on its way to a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over host Bloomfield College Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, Philadelphia improves to 8-6-1 overall and has won three straight matches for the first time this season. The Rams remain fifth in the CACC standings with a 7-3-1 record, but can move inside the top four, and earn a home game for the opening round of the CACC Tournament, with a victory over Chestnut Hill in the final CACC game of the year on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at noon on Ravenhill Field.

The Rams needed just 4:19 to take a 1-0 lead when Taylor Mysza (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) scored the first of her two goals. Brooke Haden (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) played a centering pass to Mysza that allowed to her go one-on-one with Bloomfield keeper Adeline Argabrite. Mysza chipped the ball past Argabrite into the right side of the net.

Just about five minutes later, Helen Finke (St. Charles, Ill./Saint Charles East) recorded the first goal in her collegiate goal to increase the lead to 2-0. Argarbrite was able to get a piece of Finke's breakaway shot, but not enough as it found its way over the goal line

Philadelphia would go without a goal for 14 minutes, but would strike twice in a 59 second span to double the advantage to 4-0.

Mysza notched Philadelphia's third goal, her second of the afternoon and third of the year, with a blast from just outside the 18 that got over the head of a leaping Argarbrite at the 23:14. Dena Noiseux (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) netted her fourth goal of 2016, tying her for the team lead with Megan Sullivan (), as she dribbled her way around a sprawling Argarbrite and simply tapped the ball into an open net.

Morgan Foster (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) was responsible for the Rams' final goal at 26:22. Foster was set free thanks to a Mysza pass and beat Argarbrite to her left for the goal, her first in the season.

In goal, Philadelphia's Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied a pair of saves to record her third consecutive shutout, seventh of the season. Messner has not allowed a goal in 330 minutes, 42 seconds. Argarbrite stopped three shots for the Bears (0-14-1, 0-10-1 CACC).
