Women’s Soccer Drops Nonconference Affair to Bridgeport

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (7-5-0) dropped a nonconference affair on Wednesday to the Bridgeport Purple Knights (6-5-2) from Ravenhill Field by a final of 3-0.

Junior keeper Erin Tinneny (L, 7-5-0) made 10 saves on the day including a couple diving stops in the opening half.

Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Rebekka Skaasheim scored an unassisted goal after scooping up a turnover.

The Purple Knights led shots after 45 minutes of play, 10-2.

Bridgeport added two second-half goals in the victory. In the 76th minute, Amanda Ebbesson played a ball from Andrea Basilicato; making a move in the center of the box before scoring on the right side, 2-0. In the 88th minute, Maegen Doyle played Bridgeport's eighth and final corner, crossing the ball right on the goal line. After a scrum, Eleonore Freby came away with the goal while Marta Sadornil and Boyle came away with assists.

Jefferson's lone shot on goal came in the 55th minute off the foot of junior Brooke Haden. A few minutes earlier sophomore MaryKate Ulmer had another close chance, heading the ball off the crossbar.

In total, Bridgeport led shots 21-5.

Jefferson Women's Soccer returns to action at home on Saturday, Oct. 14 with a CACC matchup against Bloomfield at noon.
