NEWARK, Del. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (9-7-0, 8-4-1 CACC) fell to Wilmington (12-5-1, 10-2-0 CACC) in the conference regular-season finale by a final of 1-0 in Delaware. The Rams close out the regular season on Friday at home before playing in the CACC Quarterfinals.
After a scoreless first half which saw the Rams manage two shots to the Wildcats five, Wilmington scored the lone goal of the match in the 60th minute, securing a No. 5 seed and a road match in first round of the CACC Championships for the Rams.
The Wildcats' Gabrielle Bluford played a long ball down the field to Loran Wyrough beyond the defense before scoring on the far post, 1-0.
Jefferson last scoring opportunity came in the 77th minute when junior Morgan Foster took a shot that was saved.
Junior keeper Erin Tinneny (L, 9-7-0) took the one-goal loss for the Rams, making three saves, facing a total of 10 Wildcat shots.
In addition to Foster's, senior Alexandria Reyes took the only other Jefferson shot on goal in the 17th minute of play, which was also saved.
Jefferson Women's Soccer now closes out the regular season at home from Ravenhill Field on Friday, Oct. 27 at 2 :30 p.m. in a nonconference tilt against Molloy.
As the No. 5 seed, the squad will then travel to Goldey-Beacom for a CACC Quarterfinals matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m., sending a winner to the CACC Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at Georgian Court, the host site for the 2017 conference championship.
