Women’s Soccer Drops Season Opener at Home to Millersville

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (0-1) fell to a tough opponent in Millersville of the PSAC on Thursday evening in the Rams' 2018 home opener by a final of 6-0.

Five freshmen started for Jefferson in each of their first collegiate games at Ravenhill Field: Ashley Armanini, Kelsey Butler, Sydney Williams, Jaimie McHugh and Chloe Quinn.

Millersville scored two goals in the first part of the opening half to take a 2-0 advantage. Due to the excessive heat and humidty, the game was stopped midway between each half for a water break. Following the short break, the Rams kept the Marauders from capitalizing with the score remaining 2-0 at the half.

Jefferson had two of their five shots in the opening period. Millersville fired off nine in the first 45 minutes.

Millersville added four goals in the second half as the Marauders won 6-0.

Millersville outshot Jefferson, 17-5, while also leading corner opportunities, 4-0.

Jefferson senior Erin Tinneny (L, 0-1) played the first 64:18 in goal with five saves before being relieved by sophomore Danielle Samson for the final 25:42.
