PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (1-2-0, 1-0-0 CACC) earned its first victory of the season on Saturday in a conference matchup with the Dominican Chargers from Ravenhill Field, 5-1. Junior Erin Sullivan notched a hat trick in the game as the Jefferson offense pounced with five goals.
Jefferson struck first as Sullivan scored her first in the 22nd minute to give the Rams a 1-0 as she salvaged a broken play in from on the net with a sliding shot.
Dominican tied it up in the 34th minute as Taylor Calero played a throw-in from Carly Rose for a long-range blast, 1-1.
Just about a minute later, Sullivan scored her second of the day with an assist from junior Alexa Karakitsios in the 35th minute. Karakitsios' pass led to Sullivan's close range shot and finish in the upper 90.
Jefferson led 2-1 at the half.
Freshman Ava Albergo put one away in the 48th minute to give the Rams a 3-1 edge. Three minutes later, Sullivan completed her hat trick with a shot just under the crossbar with an assist by junior Dena Noiseux, 4-1. With three goals on Saturday, Sullivan matched her career total after scoring once as a freshman and twice as a sophomore.
Junior Emily Discavage put the contest out of reach in the 68th minute as she settled a cross from Albergo for the goal.
Jefferson Women's Soccer returns to action on the road Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Queens in a nonconference matchup.
