BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (3-5, 3-4 CACC) grabbed a 4-2 conference road win over the Bloomfield Bears (1-8-1, 0-5-1 CACC) from Foley Field in Bloomfield, N.J.
Jefferson led 1-0 at halftime after a goal from junior MaryKate Ulmer in the 21st minute. It came as Ulmer's third of the season after she scored on a rebound.
The Rams grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the 57th minute as freshmen Ava Albergo and Emma Kuciapinski connected for a goal. Kuciapinski made a pass to Albergo in the box as Albergo put it past the left side of the Bloomfield keeper, 2-0.
Bloomfield responded to tie the game with back-to-back goals in the 72nd of 77th minutes.
Freshman Kelsey Butler scored her second goal of the campaign, which also came as the game-winning goal, in the 79th minute to put Jefferson back on top. Butler finished with a shot just under the crossbar, 3-2.
The Rams extended their edge back to two as sophomore Kasey Schlupp converted off a corner kick for her first of the season on an assist from Albergo, 4-2.
Jefferson managed 16 shots (10 on goal) to Bloomfield's 15 shots (nine on target).
Sophomore Danielle Samson (W, 1-0) started and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Rams. She faced 15 shots and made seven stops in the victory.
Women's Soccer returns home to host Wilmington on Tuesday, Oct. 2 from Ravenhill Field at 4 p.m.
