Women’s Soccer Tops Chestnut Hill in 5-0 Shutout

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (6-7-1, 6-4-1 CACC) dominated their second-straight conference game on Wednesday afternoon from Ravenhill Field in a 5-0 shutout victory over Chestnut Hill (2-11-1, 1-9-1 CACC).

The Rams have now scored 13 unanswered goals in conference play dating back to Oct. 6.

The win also comes as the squad's second-straight shutout after downing Post last Saturday, 7-0, behind 44 shots.

Today's game was similar as the Rams hung five goals on the Griffins on 38 shot attempts while limiting Chestnut Hill to just three. On Saturday, Jefferson allowed just four shots to Post.

Freshman Gabrielle Marra continued her hot streak with her third goal in the past two CACC tilts. Fellow freshman Ava Albergo notched the assist on the play in the 27th minute. Albergo leads the team with seven assists and 15 points on the year.

Junior Dena Noiseux put the Rams up 2-0 in the 38th minute after she took a shot just inside the box to beat the Chestnut Hill keeper on the left side. Jefferson took that 2-0 lead into halftime before tacking on three goals in the final 45 minutes.

Freshman Emma Kuciapinski scored her first collegiate goal on a close range shot in the 72nd minute as the Rams when up 3-0. She becomes the 14th Ram to score a goal in 2018. Freshman Alessandra DiStefano tallied the assist on the play.

In the 84th minute, DiStefano then put back a rebound for her own goal as freshman Jaimie McHugh was credited with the assist. 15 seconds later junior MaryKate Ulmer scored the fifth and final goal for Jefferson as freshman Sydney Williams earned the assist.

Senior goalkeeper Erin Tinneny (W, 3-7-1) made two saves on the day in her second shutout of the campaign.

Jefferson Women's Soccer returns to action on the road at Concordia (N.Y.) on Saturday, Oct. 20 at noon.
