PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (4-3, 4-0 CACC) routed Bloomfield (0-8-1, 0-3-1 CACC), 6-0 on Homecoming Saturday afternoon.
The Rams had plenty of opportunities in the first half, firing off 14 shots, but it took them until the 44th minute to get one across the goal line. Junior Casey Sheehan found sophomore Ava Albergo with a pass, who blasted it inside the right post for a 1-0 lead.
Jefferson increased the lead to 2-0 just 20 seconds into the second period. Freshman Grace Kenville found a loose ball in the box and finished into the left side.
In the 57th minute, a pair of rookies connected in Laural Erick and Devin Sullivan. Erick sent a cross left and Sullivan settled and kicked it past the goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead. Erick made it 4-0 in the 67th minute when her cross attempted hooked towards the goal and eluded a leaping goalkeeper.
Jefferson outshot Bloomfield by a 28-2 count and totaled 14 corner kicks on the day.
- Graduate student Erin Tinneny and junior Danielle Samson shared the shutout, each playing a half.
- After dropping their first three games of the season, the Rams have now won four in a row.
- Jefferson and Holy Family remain the only unbeaten and untied teams in conference play, both sporting 4-0 marks.
The Rams and Tigers will meet for sole possession of first place in the CACC at Ravenhill Field on Thursday, October 10 at 3:30 p.m.
