NEWARK, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (7-3, 7-0 CACC) maintained its undefeated conference record with a 1-0 victory at Wilmington (Del.) (4-7-1, 3-3-1) on Tuesday.
The Rams did all but score in the opening 45 minutes, outshooting the Wildcats, 5-0, and holding a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Wilmington stopped all five Jefferson shots and the game was scoreless at the intermission.
In the second period, the Rams continued to pressure and finally broke through in the 58th minute. Senior MaryKate Ulmer picked up her team-leading ninth goal of the season when she capitalized on a failed Wilmington clear attempt. Jefferson totaled eight shots in the second and finished the game with a 13-4 edge.
Graduate student Erin Tinneny had to make just one save to earn her third clean sheet of the campaign.
- It was the Rams' fourth consecutive shutout in the middle of a 360:26 scoreless streak.
- Jefferson last had a seven-game win streak in 2011. It was also the last time that the Rams began 7-0 in the CACC.
- The win marked Jefferson's first at Wilmington since 2014.
The Rams host Nyack on Senior Day on Saturday, October 19 at 12 p.m.
