CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's track team took part in the second day of the Danny Curran Invitational on a wet Saturday at Widener University.
Freshman Jessica Theis (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) was Philadelphia's top runner in the 1,500-meter run and the 800-meter run.
Theis turned in an 18th-place finish in the 1,500, crossing the finish line in 5 minutes, 22.16 seconds. She came back in the 800 to post the 28th-place time of 2:39.63.
In her first time competing in the 1,500, sophomore Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic) was the 19th-place runner, finishing .44 seconds behind Theis, with a time of 5:22.60.
Sophomore Courtney Lafferty (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) wrapped up the competition for the Rams by coming in fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:28.39.
Philadelphia's next competition is the West Chester University Invitational on Saturday, April 12 at West Chester University.
