Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University volleyball team (3-7, 1-1 CACC) was held to just 18 kills in a straight set 3-0 loss to conference rival Georgian Court University (10-4, 2-0 CACC) on Tuesday night.  GCU currently has the best overall record in the CACC.

Junior Nicole Berkstresser (Bridgewater, NJ/ Bridgewater-Raritan) led the Lady Rams with eight kills, along with a .318 attack percentage.

The Lady Lions took the first two sets handily (25-12, 25-16) but Phila U. fought back in the third set.  The score teetered back and forth until the Lady Rams took a 10-8 lead, but GCU clawed their way back to a 17-17 tie.

Phila U. head coach Mark Magarity called a timeout to chat with his Lady Rams, followed by a timely block by senior Lindsay Butler (DeKalb, IL/ DeKalb) to go ahead 19-17.

That would be the last lead for Phila U. as they fought off one match point but eventually fell 25-23 in the final set.

Junior Natalie Amodei (West Chester, PA/ Bishop Shanahan) led the Lady Rams with nine digs.

The Lady Rams hit the road for a Thursday, September 25th match vs. Chestnut Hill College at 7:00 p.m.
