Sophomore trio named to CACC Volleyball All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three sophomores on the Philadelphia University women's volleyball team were named to the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Volleyball All-Academic Team that was released Friday.

Alexandra Harrington (St. Leonard, Md./Huntingtown), Becca Lutterschmidt (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), and Emily Pilla (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic) all earned a place on the All-Academic Team for the first time in their careers. Lutterschmidt and Pill are both graphic design communication and Harrington is a fashion merchandising and management major.

Harrington has the ninth-highest cumulative grade-point average in the CACC with a 3.93.

The conference had 44 student-athletes tabbed for the CACC Volleyball All-Academic Team.

In order to be named to the CACC Volleyball All-Academic Team, recipients must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher through the spring or summer semester of 2016.

On the court, Philadelphia won its first CACC championship, made the NCAA Tournament for the first time, and finished the season with a 29-5 overall record.
