PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (14-6, 9-1 CACC) earned its fifth conference sweep on Wednesday evening with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 victory over the Concordia Clippers in a CACC matchup from the Gallagher Center.
The Rams hit .241 as a team in the win, led by freshman Abigail Kress with 10 kills and a .310 hitting percentage. It marks her seventh match of the year with a double-digit kill total and the fourth where she had at least 10 kills with a .300 hitting percentage.
Jefferson pulled away from the Clippers in the first set with a five-point run to make it 18-9 before winning the last six of nine points for the 25-14 set victory.
In the second set, the Rams went up seven early at 14-7 before Concordia got back within four to make it 14-10. Jefferson won the next five of six to make it 19-11 before closing out the 25-16 win.
The Clippers battled in the third set, going up 3-0 early and holding a 9-7 lead towards the middle of the set. Jefferson won the next four to take an 11-9 advantage. Concordia got within one at 12-11 before the Rams went on an eight-point spree, making it 20-11 as they clinched the match and set with a 25-16 decision.
The Rams have now won 11 of their last 12 matches.
