PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (17-6, 12-1 CACC) won its sixth-straight and last 14 of 15 matches on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 sweep over Nyack in the Gallagher Center. The Rams took down the Warriors by a 25-22, 25-18, 25-23 final.
Freshman Logan Dontell owned a match-high .400 hitting percentage behind 10 kills with just two errors.
Senior Courtney Wensel notched her 13th double-double of the season behind a match-high 12 kills and 15 digs.
The win came as the ninth three-set victory for the Rams in 2017.
Jefferson used two five-point runs to go up 15-11 in the first set. The Warriors hung around as the two squads exchanged points before the Rams came away with the 25-22 first-set win.
Trailing 8-7 in the second set, Jefferson went on a five-point run to take in 12-8 in favor of the Rams. The lead was as high as seven for Jefferson at 21-14 before the 25-18 set win.
Jefferson trailed again midway through the third and final set before coming back. Losing 13-7, the Rams scored seven-straight to go up 14-13. A run by Nyack put them on top 20-16 before another six-point stretch situated the Rams ahead at 22-20. Jefferson closed out the third, 25-23.
Jefferson Volleyball returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Wilmington (Del.) for a 7 p.m. CACC matchup.
