PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (20-6, 15-1 CACC) swept the Chestnut Hill Griffins (8-20, 7-9 CACC) on Tuesday evening by a final of 25-19, 25-16, 25-19.
The win avenges the Rams' only previous conference loss back on October 3 to Chestnut Hill when Jefferson fell in four sets on the road.
As a team on Tuesday, the Rams hit .256 led by senior Corinne Justus with an astounding .542 hitting percentage behind 15 kills and just two errors.
Junior Courtney Wensel also notched 15 kills in the victory along with 11 digs for her 15th double-double of the campaign.
Sophomore Mariah Cadzow recorded 10 kills with a .292 hitting percentage and seven digs.
Freshman Caitlin Crespo had a match-high 21 digs in the match, her fifth with 20-plus on the year.
Junior Alexandra Harrington had 42 assists to raise her assists per set figure to 9.77, tops in the CACC.
The Rams almost led wire-to-wire the entire match. Jefferson found itself tied twice with Chestnut Hill in the first and third sets. In the second set, the Rams trailed 6-3 before going on a 13-point run. Cadzow served during the time with one service ace while Wensel had four kills and Justus had three.
Jefferson Volleyball returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 2 at Holy Family (6 p.m.) before returning home on Saturday, Nov. 4 against Georgian Court (noon).
