PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (12-8, 8-1 CACC) swept the Concordia Clippers (0-11, 0-9 CACC) on Saturday afternoon from the Gallagher Center by a final of 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.
-Senior Courtney Wensel and sophomore Logan Dontell led the Rams with nine kills each. Dontell hit a match-high .438 on 16 swings with two errors. Wensel also had eight digs.
-Wensel now has 1460 career kills; 141 from tying the career program record.
-Junior Mariah Cadzow recorded eight kills and had two service aces and three digs.
-Senior Alexandra Harrington had 29 assists in the win with two service aces and four digs.
-Junior Amber Johnson recorded seven kills on 12 swings with two errors for a .417 hitting percentage.
-Junior Alexis Leddy notched a match-high 17 digs.
-Jefferson hit .316 in the first set (25-18), .300 in the second (25-19) and .294 in the third set (25-15).
-First set: Concordia played the Rams tight in the first set. Jefferson found themselves up 17-11 before the Clippers closed the gap. A late four-point run put the Rams up 23-15 before winning 25-18.
-Second set: The Clippers led 11-9 early. Jefferson then won the next eight of nine to go up 17-12 before winning 25-19.
-Third set: Jefferson ran away in the third with nine-straight points to go up 19-9. The Rams closed the set and the match with a five-point run to win, 25-15.
Volleyball now plays on the road at Caldwell on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for the contest.
