PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (21-9, 14-3 CACC) suffered a home loss to the Georgian Court Lions (18-8, 14-3 CACC) on Saturday afternoon from the Gallagher Center by a four-set final of 25-22, 32-30, 23-25, 25-21.
The Lions took the season series from the Rams after taking down Jefferson back on Sept. 25 in five sets from Lakewood, N.J. The loss leaves Jefferson and Georgian Court tied at 14-3 in conference play. As of Saturday, Holy Family occupies the CACC South #1 spot followed by Georgian Court at #2 and Jefferson at #3 due to the season-series tiebreaker. The top two seeds in each the north and south divisions get a home quarterfinal game.
-Courtney Wensel led the match with 17 kills. The senior hit .300 on the day and added 16 digs for a double-double.
-Sophomore Cassandra Hickman recorded 11 kills with a .290 hitting percentage with nine digs.
-Sophomore Logan Dontell notched 10 kills, four blocks and three digs.
-Sophomore Abigail Kress (8) and junior Amber Johnson (6) combined for 14 kills on the afternoon.
-Senior Alexandra Harrington ended with 49 assists in the loss.
-Junior Alexis Leddy added 17 digs on the day, bringing her career total to 965.
Jefferson Volleyball now hosts Wilmington in the CACC matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. from the Gallagher Center.
