Women’s XC Wins CACC Championship, Men Take Third

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University freshman runner Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) led her Lady Ram squad to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship in rainy and slick conditions.  Simonetti finished fifth overall (20:26.63) and was named CACC Rookie of the Year for her efforts.  The men were led by junior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) who took third overall (27:19) in the men's 8K and helped his team to a third-place overall finish.

Head coach Dave Thomas was named both Men's and Women's CACC Coach of the Year for his teams performances.

The women's team also got CACC All-Conference performances from junior Faith Anderson (Dover, PA/ Dover) who took eighth-place, sophomore Kaitlin O'Leary (Marlton, NJ/ Cherokee) who took ninth-place, freshman Gabrielle Dei Tos (Freeland, PA/ MMI Prep) who took 12th-place and freshman Madelyn Trout (Concord, OH/ Riverside) who rounded out the PhilaU scoring in 13th-place.

Runners in the top 15 for both the men and women received All-Conference honors.

For the men both D'Andrea and junior Dave Snyder (New Providence, PA/ Solanco) took All-Conference honors.  Snyder took 15th-place for the Rams.

The women's top overall team scores included PhilaU (47), second- Georgian Court (61), third-Felician, fourth- Wilmington and fifth- Nyack. 

The men's top overall scores included Felician (34), University of the Sciences (55), PhilaU (71), Wilmington (92) and Holy Family (160).
