Thomas named CACC women's cross country coach of the year

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University cross country head coach Dave Thomas has been selected as the 2015 BSN Sports Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Thursday.

In his 10th season as the head coach at Philadelphia University, Thomas is receiving the conference's yearly honor for the fifth time on the women's side (2008, 2010, 2011, 2013). Thomas is also a two-time men's coach of the year (2008, 2010).

This season, the women's cross country team has placed first at the Delaware Valley University Invitational, the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship, Goldey-Beacom College Fall Classic, Bryn Athyn College Cross Country Invitational, and the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Championship. The Rams were second at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational and sixth in the Paul Short Run White Race.

Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic) was the individual champion at Delaware Valley and Goldey-Beacom.

Philadelphia returns to action in the CACC Championship on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. at Belmont Plateau. The Rams are the defending conference champion.
