Women's cross country takes third at Haverford Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's cross country team posted a third-place finish at the Haverford Invitational on Friday afternoon at Haverford College.

The Rams put four runners in the top-20 to score 82 points in the four-team event. The host Fords won the Invitational with 29 points, while Eastern was close behind in second with 35 points.

Kaitlyn Beckham (Gettysburg, Pa./Fairfield Area) led the Rams with a ninth-place finish after completing the 3-mile Alumni Course in a time of 20 minutes 03.8 seconds. Gypsy Blue Cooper (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) crossed the finish line with the 14th-place time of 20:42.1. Maria Santangelo (Abington, Pa./AIM Academy) recorded a time of 20:53.5 to take the 16th spot.

Courtney Lafferty (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) was Friday's 19th-place finisher with a time of 21:22.3. Victoria Hochuli (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Oceanside) completed Philadelphia's lineup with the 31st-place time of 24:08.5.

Eastern's Kierra Zack won the 31-runner event with a time 18:26.1

Philadelphia's top seven runners will compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. at Belmont Plateau. The Rams are the defending CACC champion and have won the race six of the last seven years.
