KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's cross country team recorded a 14th-place finish in the Division II Challenge held Saturday morning at Kutztown University.
The Rams totaled 318 points in the 20-team event to finish comfortably in 14th—65 points ahead of 15th-place West Chester.
For the second straight week, Stephanie Watson (Newport, Vt./North Country Union) was Philadelphia's fastest runner as she completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 23 minutes 55.9 seconds to take 26th in the 244-runner field.
Victoria Frisbie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) crossed the finish line in the 61st positing with a time of 25:06.8, while Jessica Thies (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) turned in a time of 25:15.4 to come home 68th.
Erin Young (Huntington Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Erin Raup (Danville, Pa./Danville) completed the Rams' scoring as they finished three seconds apart. Young's time of 25:39.2 allowed her to finish 80th and Raup finished 83rd with a time of 25:42.2.
The team title went to Bloomsburg, who scored 69 points to earn the victory. Shippensburg (73 points) and Seton Hill (138) were second and third, respectively.
California (Pa.)'s Summer Hill completed the race in 22:05.2 to claim the individual championship.
Philadelphia heads to Pomona, N.J. for the Osprey Open on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m.
