Head Coach Marty Gilbert and his Philadelphia University women's
tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 decision to
visiting Queens College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference
contest. The setback drops the Lady Rams to 16-6 overall on
the season.
The Lady Rams took a 2-1 lead after doubles action as senior
Maddie Smith (pictured) and freshman Adriana Rodriguez took an 8-1
decision at #1. Gilbert also got an 8-7 win at #3 doubles
from senior Katie Stracquatanio and freshman Stephanie Reinke
heading into singles action. However, the visiting Knights
won four of six singles matches with Smith at #1, and Rodriguez at
#3, earning victories, but the Lady Rams came up just short.
