Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – Midfielder Ryan McIntyre netted his first career goal in the 61st minute to help give the Philadelphia University men's soccer team a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Chestnut Hill Wednesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

McIntyre broke the scoreless deadlock volleyed home a loose ball from just outside the penalty area. The ball was sent into the box on a Sean Crossland corner kick and fell on McIntyre's right off after knocking off of a crowd in front of the net.

The lead wasn't safe as the Griffins (5-8-1, 5-4-0 CACC) switched the field and attempted seven of their game-total 13 shots over the final 10 minutes. Philadelphia's Neil Kwiatkowski kept the score at 1-0 by making three saves, including a diving save to stop a Patrick Steger header in the 81st minute and a sprawling save that denied Hernan Angulo seven minutes later.

Chestnut Hill had a chance late as the Rams committed a foul with a minute to play. With all 10 field players attacking, Angulo had his shot attempted blocked. Jakob Passernig took advantage and he corralled the ball, ran the length of the field, and chipped a shot over the Griffins' Michael Goldstein for the insurance goal with 15 seconds remaining. Passernig now leads Philadelphia (6-4-4, 3-3-3 CACC) with four goals.

Kwiatkowski was strong in goal for Rams as he finished the match with six saves, five in the second half. Goldstein stopped five shots for the Griffins. Both teams attempted 13 shots.

Philadelphia continues its three-match home-stead on Saturday, Oct. 13 with a CACC showdown against Dominican (N.Y.). The match is slated for 2:30 p.m. with a Senior Day recognition ceremony to take place prior to the start.
