Women's tennis blanks Cabrini, 9-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team started its string of three matches in three days on a positive note with a 9-0 win over Cabrini Wednesday afternoon on the Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts.

The Lady Rams improve to 9-5 overall, while the Cavaliers are now 6-7.

The No. 3 doubles tandem of Magill Kurts and Elizabeth Verbits opened the match with an 8-0 win over Mia Scocozzo and Kaitlyn Zinkewich. Isabella Espinosa and Olivia Amato took out Cabrini's Mackenzie Murray and Victoria Nastala, 8-1, in the No. 2 flight. The No. 1 team of Sayre Limburg and Kaylee Fennern completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win against Katie Kennedy and Samantha Trumbo.

Fennern was victorious in her No. 2 singles match against Trumbo, 6-0, 6-1. Amato took the No. 4 flight 6-0, 6-0 over Murray to clinch the match.

Espinosa and Verbits were both 6-0, 6-2 winners, while Kurts came away with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph against Nastala. Alyssa Tullar earned a win at No. 6 by a 6-1, 6-3 score over Zinkewich.

Philadelphia is back at it Thursday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. with a road match at Division I Rider.
