Women's tennis ends busy stretch with 9-0 win over Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team won its third match in four days as it defeated Post University, 9-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at Chase Collegiate School.

Philadelphia improves to 3-0 overall and is 1-0 in the CACC. It's the first time that the Rams opened a season with three straight wins since winning six to start the 2006-07 campaign.

Post is 0-1 overall and 0-1 against the conference.

The tandems of Emily Chung (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) and Anna Kudriatceva (Yekaterinburg, Russia/Grammar School No. 13) and Sylvia Bennicelli (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and Jala Hamada (Giza, Egypt/Dar El-Tarbia, IGCSE) got Philadelphia off to a fast start with 8-0 wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, respectively.

Olivia Amato (Hartford, Conn./Cheshire) and Julia Arruda (Valinhos, Brazil/Anglo Coc Valinhos) outlasted the duo of Lisa Dubrovskya and Carolin Sure 9-7 in a battle of No. 1s to complete the sweep.

In singles play, Chung, Hamada, Anna Slomowitz (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), and Magill Kurts (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) were all 6-0, 6-0 winners.

Arruda was a 6-4, 6-4 winner against Dubrovskya in the No. 1 flight. Kudriatceva defeated Sure at No. 2, 6-3, 6-0.

Philadelphia now has three days off before heading to Shippensburg for a non-conference match on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m.
