Women's tennis suffers 6-3 setback to Post

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University had its season-opening five-match winning streak snapped with a 6-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss to Post Saturday night in the Legacy Youth Tennis Education Center.

Philadelphia dips to 5-1 overall, 2-1 against the CACC, while Post goes to 8-1 overall, 4-0 in conference play.

The Rams earned all three of their points with victories at the bottom of the singles lineup, marking the first time all season that the team didn't have a lead after doubles.

Emily Chung (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) went to 2-0 at No. 4 singles as she defeated Brianna Miah 6-2, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, Usha Baublitz (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) improves to 2-0 on the season with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Sarah Namazi. Mariana Sampaio (Brusque, Brazil/Colegio Consul Carlos Renaux)  is now 3-0 after an 8-5 triumph over Jessica Bergen.

Philadelphia heads to Chestnut Hill for a CACC clash on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.
