BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team went 0-2 at the Bloomsburg Duals, hosted by Bloomsburg University, on Saturday in the Burt Reese Tennis Center. The Rams fell to Slippery Rock, 5-2, and the University of Charleston, 6-2.
In the opener against Slippery Rock, Philadelphia (15-7) earned points at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles. The Rams' top duo of Julia Arruda (Valinhos, Brazil/Anglo Coc Valinhos) and Jala Hamada (Giza, Egypt/Dar El-Tarbia, IGCSE) knocked off Carla Corrochano and Nina Barbano, 8-4. Emily Chung (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Ana Petrovic.
The Rams picked up wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches in the loss to Charleston. Arruda was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Toni Katipa in a showdown of No. 1s. Chung recorded her team-leading 17th singles win of the season, defeating Kelsey Hensley at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1.
Philadelphia wraps up the 2014-15 season with a match at Chestnut Hill on Thursday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
